Hello, friends,
The SMA has a lot to share with you. Here are some highlights:
- The Leslie Feinberg Library has been completely set-up and catalogued. You can now peruse this stunning collection of titles through our website. We will soon host a formal inauguration of the LFL and the Sylvia Rivera Room which contains it. Stay tuned for more information regarding this event.
- The main book room is almost completely set up. We have thousands of titles already shelved, with one final bookcase to go. If you can spare a dollar, please support our fundraising campaign to cover the expense of the final bookcase. You could get a shelf named after you or someone you love, a handmade postcard love-note from a Board member as thanks, and more!
- Calling volunteers! We have a number of projects that could use your creativity and assistance. Are you a photographer or illustrator? A graphic designer? Do you like getting hands-on with some rad books and periodicals and want to help us catalogue new materials? Do you like planning fun events like movie nights, poetry readings, or something else entirely? Giving presentations or writing blog posts on our history? Cleaning, doing renovations, or finding creative ways to fundraise to support our LGBTQIA community space? Whatever you bring to the table, we would love to work with you on a project to foster LGBTQIA education and community-building through the SMA. Please, contact us with your ideas.
- The SMA is launching a monthly e-newsletter that will contain news about the SMA, information on upcoming events, and stories about what our volunteers and interns are creating. You can sign-up for our newsletter here.
Thank you for all your support. Please keep in touch!
Best,
Joy
